George was baptized a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on 11 August 1903 at Lamoni, Decatur, Iowa, by Elijah Sparks. He was confirmed by D. J. Krahl and John Smith. He attended the Iowa branches at Lamoni and Mandamin.
