I have a copy of George's will. This gives us information about his children. The decendant that I am interested in is listed as Nancy Browder. He lists ten children and provides for each one in his will. Nancy Bowman married Jeptha Browder and they are my great great grandparents. This makes George and Susannah my 3rd great grandparents.
The following is a transcription of the hand written probate records of George Bowman. Some of the writing was hard to desciper and there may be some mistakes. I have a copy of the hand written probate in my Bowman files from Book A , pages 17-20.
                                   Probate of George Bowman

An instrument of writing to be the last Will and Testament of George Bowman, was this day produced to Court of probate. Whereupon, came John Davison, and J. C. Wyly in open Court and who being first Sworn, deposed and said, that they were acquainted with George Bowman the Testator, and that he signed and acknowledged the same in their presence, to be his last will and Testament, that they believed that at the Time of so doing; he was of sound mind and disposing memory; and that they signed the same in his presence as witnesses, and at his request.

The same is therefore ordered to be recorded and filed. Thereupon cames James B. Bowman and J. D. Blair, the Executors named in said will, into Open Court and enter into Bond.
In the name of George Bowman, I, George Bowman of the County of Monroe and State of Tennessee, being of sound and disposing mind and memory, Do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all wills by me heretofore made. That is to Say,
It is my request that my Children be satified with the disposition that I am about to make of the property that God in his mercy has seen proper to bless me with. And having heretofore given to my childern, Elizabeth Ault, Nancy Browder, Polly Tipton, John P. D. Bowman, Sara Dale, Hannah A. Ault, James B. Bowman, Francis I. Richie and Susan Johnson, each the sum of Two Thousand Dollars, or property worth said sum of money; and have made no advancement to my Daughter Eliza Jane Blair, wife of John D. Blair, Do hereby devise to my said Daughter Eliza Jane Blair, to have and to hold forever the farm upon which I now live containing three hundred and fifty acres, to have and to hold the same with all appurenancy, thereunto belonging forever; But should my said daughter accept this legacy, she is to pay to my Executors herein after to be named the sum of One Thousand Dollars, and to provide amply for my beloved wife, Nancy B. Bowman during her life-time. Giving to her such food, and Clothing as she may desire, & give her a home with her during her natural life.
I devise to my beloved Daughter Susan Johnson, wife of Lewis Frank Johnson and her heirs, to have and to hold forever a certain tract of land lying in the fifth Civil District of Monroe County and bounded as follows, & being in the third range East of the Meredian Hiwassee District, second fractional township & north west quarter of section twenty third, and one other parcel of land lying east of said fraction running a line East twenty six and a half rods to a Lowerwood Corner from the North East Corner of the aforesaid fraction - thence from the Lowerwood Corner on the line between J. D. Blairs and S. F. Johnson, and lying on Tennessee River, and being the land purchased by me from S. F. Johnson on the 27th day of January 1865.
I next will that my Executors as soon after my death as he can do so collect all moneys that may be due me either by note or account and to sell all property that I may own at my death, and not disposed of by this will and all said moneys together with the sum of One Thousand dollars to be paid by my Daughter Eliza Jane Blair to be equally divided between all my children except Susan Johnson, and to her I give noting more of my Estate than the land before mentioned.
To my beloved wife Nancy Bowman I give and bequeath all my household and Kitchen furniture, to control and dispose of as she may see proper.
Lastly I do nominate and appoint my son James B. Bowman and my son-in-law John D. Blair to be the Executors of this my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal on this sixteenth day of August in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and sixty five.
                                                                                 George Bowman
