Page 534 – Gabriel, who is mentioned in his mother’s testament, was a substitute in the said charter of the barony and castle of Cathcart. Succeeding his brother John, he sold these lands to his eldest brother on 12 Jan 1550-51, and at the same time purchased from him the lands of Craigbait. On 26 Jun 1554 he found surety to underlie the law for receiving the sacrament while under excommunication. He had married, prior to that date, Margaret Lindsay, and died before 24 Mar 1572-73, when she was alive. He had two sons:-
