Obituary DEATH OF MRS. CORNELIUS VANZANTEN Another of the town's old pioneer Holland residents, passed away to her final reward today, in the death of Mrs. Cornelius VanZanten. Mrs. VanZanten has been in failing health for several years and since last fall has been seriously ill. She died peacefully during the noon hour, retaining consciousness to the end. Deceased was a native of the Province of Groningen, the Netherlands, where she was born in 1837. It was in her native Holland that she met and married her surviving husband, and two weeks after their marriage they set sail for America, arriving in Grand Haven on August 11, 1864. They have lived in this city ever since, and have always been among the town's most respected residents. Mrs. VanZanten was a good Christian woman, endeared to her husband and family, who with a large circle of friends will mourn the loss of one, who during life endeavored to live up to its highest ideals, and who died as she had lived, a believer in the Savior and in the Good Book. She will be sadly missed by the family to whom she was greatly devoted. The husband and the following children survive: Mrs. E.P. Kinkema, Mrs. Rev. A.W. DeJong of Holland; Mrs. John J. Bolt, Mrs. Jacob Dykema, Mrs. Rev. Wm. Gruys of Sully, Iowa; Jennie, Jacoba and Cornelia of this city. Funeral Tuesday at 1:30 from family home, Elliott and Seventh Sts and a 2 from the Second Christian Reformed church of which deceased had been a member many years. Rev. G.D. DeJong will officiate.
