At his home in Albion, Dane county, Wis., October 10th 1881, Freeborn Sweet, in the 72d year of his age.
Freeborn Sweet was born in Otsego county, New York, June 21st, 1810. In August, 1841, he moved to Wisconsin and settled on his farm in Albion, where he lived until his death.
He was the first white inhabitant of the town of Albion, and shared with the early settlers the privations and struggles of pioneer life. His name has been identified with the development and civilization of this country.
He was a man of kind and generous heart, often sharing his last loaf with the early settler. His hospitality and charity will long be remembered.
The funeral services were held at the Methodist church, near his place, of which he was a worthy member.
He leaves a wife and one daughter and a large circle of sympathizing friends.
