In 1946, made a member of Maine's "One That Didn't Get Away Club" for catching outsize landlocked Atlantic salmon, trout or smallmouth bass. Justice of the Peace in Castine in 1954. "Frederick, at the age of 26, was made manager of Richland Peat Mines, a Corporation organized for the purpose of harvesting and processing peat moss which is sold all over the United States. He is a member of Hancock Lodge No. 4 F and A, Castine, Maine. He has shown marked talent in developing new machinery, having been the first one to improve on a baling machine so that it was possible to use corrugated cartons to pack peat into - burlap having been used for centuries. He also invented and built a so-called scurfer used for removing the top of the bog by machinery instead of by hand." -Genealogy of the Wardwell Family; Ralph S.
