Notes from JS Scott

LT Co K 11th TN Inf. Enlisted 5/25/1861. Promoted to Captain 5/1/1863 leading the company. Flesh wounds in neck and side in the battles of Murpreesboro and Chickamauga. Became ill with Typhoid Fever at Greensboro NC a few weeks before end of war and left by order of his physician. Cared for in a private home till after war. Presented himself to the federals in 7/1865, took oath, and was transported to Nashville. Have muster rolls, Pension Application, and Widows Pension application. Married by Rev. Franklin McCaslin. Taught school, farmed, and ran a hotel after the war. Served in the TN House of Representatives the last two years of his life.
