From Harriet Hosler Kenney: Frank was hospitalized in France then sailed from Brest France 3-5-1919, landed in Newport News, West Va. 4-18-1919 (44 da) on the USS Carolina. He then had epilepsy and a paralized left arm. He stopped at his mother and step father's home in Benton Harbor, MI where he met and married Iva. They moved to South Bend, Ind where all their children were born. Frank worked at Studebaker. The depression forced them north to Eastport, MI. Henry provided them with a home in Torch Lake as long as they stayed there. He lived only 2 years in Central Lake before his health failed. Obituary Frank Hosler was born October 25, 1895, in Echo Township, Antrim county, Michigan, the only son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hosler, and grew to manhood in this locality. At the beginning of the World War he enlisted and served overseas eight months with the 1st Div., 26th Infantry, during which time he was gassed and was in the hospital when the Armistice was signed. On September 24, 1919 Mr. Hosler was married to Iva Schank of South Bend, Ind. To this union were born five children, Evelyn, who died in infancy, Clifford, Calvin, Glenn, Harriet and Harvey. The family moved to Torch Lake village in 1930, where they resided until 1937, when they came to Central Lake, where he passed away Wednesday, March 8, pneumonia being the cause of his death. He was a member of the Eastport Baptist church and of the V.F.W. post of Traverse City. Surviving besides the widow and four children are his parents, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. W.H. Rauch and Rev. J.S. Reed officiating. Interment was made in the family lot in southern cemetery.
