Francis Warner was baptised on 26th June 1793 at St Albans in Hertfordshire. He was the son of Moses Warner and his wife Elizabeth.

On 6th October 1821, aged 28, Francis married Ann Wood. They married at Harpenden, about five miles north of St Albans, and settled there after their marriage. They went on to have five children baptised at Harpenden together between 1822 and 1830, although at least two of their children died young. Ann herself died in 1832, when she was said to be only 29 years old.

In 1834, Francis married again. His second wife was Mary Hornet, formerly Swallow. They went on to have another four children together between about 1835 and 1842, with the youngest two children being twins, although both twins died young, one shortly after birth and the other at one year old.

The family appear in the 1841 census living in the Coldharbour area of Harpenden. Francis was working as an agricultural labourer, whilst Mary was a straw plaiter.

Francis died in 1844, aged 50. He was buried at Harpenden on 3rd February 1844. Mary survived him by thirteen years and remarried in 1851.

This baptism has been linked to the Francis Warner who as an adult lived in Harpenden on the basis that he had children called both Moses and Elizabeth and in the 1841 census indicated that he was born in the early 1790s in Hertfordshire, and the age quoted when he died suggests he was born around 1793. One of the witnesses to Francis's first marriage in 1821 was an Elizabeth Warner, and it would appear that the Elizabeth who was mother of the child baptised in 1793 was still alive then - the only plausible burial found for her is in 1828.
