- ↑ Whilst no baptism record has been found for Francis, the surviving parish registers of Cropthorne between the 1640s and 1670s were poorly kept, almost certainly as a result of the upheaval of the Civil Wars. Francis's father's will appears to list his children in age order, judging by those for whom baptism records have been found. This would suggest that Francis was the fourth child, so probably born a couple of years after the third child, Alice, who was baptised in 1674.
