He served in the French War in 1756 in the 8th Co. (Capt. John Wood), 4th Conn. Regt. [Conn. Hist. Soc. Coll. 9:157.] He enlisted in March 1778 for three years, residence stated as Newtown, in Capt. Jairus Wilcox's Co., Corps of Artificers. [Conn. Men in the Revolution, 290.] Descendants of daughters have joined the Daughters of the American Revolution. [D.A.R. Lineage Books, 24:2293 114:165.] He is presumed to be the 'Fitch Kimble' listed at Newtown, Conn., in the 1790 census with a boy under 16 years and three females in his family."
