The 1937 WPA survey of old homes #ROC 338, reveals the Old James McChesney home, built ABOUT 1750, was sold to Jacob Ludwick 1845, to John Ludwick in Oct 1874, to Ezra Huffman in Dec 1874, then willed to S M HUFFMAN. At his death, his executor E O Huffman, sold it to C G Huffman in 1931 and C G Huffman sold it in 1934, to E A Swope. The WPA has a lot of data on the old home, in good shape today. It's a 2 story, rectangular brick home, with tall chimneys on either end. The WPA report is online, at the Library of Virginia, with a 1937 photo of it. In 1937, it had not been remodeled and was in very good shape.
