    This is the last Will and Testament of me Ezekial Hobbs Victualler in the Borough of St Albans & County of Hertford First my mind and will is that all my just debts & funeral expences be paid I give and bequeath unto my dear Wife Jane all my Freehold Estate situate near the Turnpike on the London Road in the Parish of St Peter's for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the said Freehold Estate to my Sisters Sarah and Harriet and to the Brother John and Sister Johanna of my Wife share and share alike viz in four equal parts in case of the decease of any of the said parties during the life of my Wife then the share or shares shall be divided equally amongst the surviving Children of the said parties I give and bequeath unto my Wife Jane All the Residue of my real and personal Estate which I may be possessed of or entitled to at the time of my decease I do hereby appoint my Wife Jane Executrix and Mr Thomas Syrett Draper High St St Albans and Mr Thomas Kinver Brewer St Albans Executors of this that I declare to be my last Will and Testament and hereby revoking and making void any other Will In Witness thereof I have set my hand and seal in the presence of those who at my request will subscribe their names as Witnesses thereto this twentieth day of February one thousand eight hundred and thirty five Ezekial Hobbs (LS) Witnesses William Luff - Joseph Scrivner X his mark - Edwin Coles, Sam[ue]l Wells

    Proved at London 8th Feb[rua]ry 1840 before the Worshipful Thomas Blake Doctor of Laws & Surrogate by the Oath of Jane Hobbs Widow the Relict one of the Executors to whom Adm[inistrati]on was granted having been first sworn duly to administer Power reserved of making the like Grant to Thomas Syrett and Thomas Kinver the other Executors when they shall apply for the same.
