E. Clark Mayo Jr. of Belmont, a retired accountant, died Wednesday at Mount Auburn Hospital after a brief illness. He was 88. Born in Boston, Mr. Mayo had been a resident of Belmont for more than 15 years. He was a graduate of Brown University and Bentley College. Mr. Mayo was a certified public accountant and had worked for Wolf and Co., an accounting firm. He was a late member of Oakley Country Club, Watertown. Husband of the late Carlene (Wardwell), he is survived by two sons, Stephen W. of Hopkinton and E. Clark III of Crestline, Calif; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Services and burial in Belmont Cemetery were private. Arrangements by Short, Williamson and Diamond Funeral Home, Belmont. -Boston Herald 04 February 1995
