Evelyn M. Blomer It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our Mother, Evelyn M. Blomer, 76, longtime resident of Kansas City, MO. She passed away on March 30, 2017 after a brave 17-year battle against breast cancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Blomer, daughter, Jennifer Blomer and her parents, John and Mary Torrez. She is survived by her daughters: Katie Airoldi and her husband Joe of Aurora, IL; Susan Blomer Rodriguez and her husband Pedro of Leawood, KS; grandchildren, Matthew, Alex, Tori and Paul Rodriguez. She is also survived by her siblings: Ernestine (Hank) Horgan, John Jr. (Dolores) Torrez, Mickey Shaver, Mike (Teresa) Torrez, Stella (Dave) Marinelli, Richard (Jan) Torrez, and Yolanda Torrez. She leaves behind a large extended family as well as many wonderful friends. Evelyn was born and raised in Topeka, KS. She was a 1958 graduate of Topeka High. She retired from UMB Bank after 32 years as the Trust Department s Receptionist. She will be fondly remembered by all her family and friends for her beautiful smile, outgoing personality, and her love of the slots. She knew no strangers, never complained, and was a true inspiration of inner strength. Visitation will begin at 2:00 followed by Memorial Service at 3:00, Saturday, April 8, at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. Private family Mass and interment in Topeka. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Evelyn s name to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation (60 East 56th St., 8th floor, NY, NY, 10022).
