Evelyn Pierpont was an officer in the Revolution and after its close settled as a farmer at Litchfield, Conn.; but becoming reduced in circumstances he found employment at Yale College, of which he was a graduate, and continued in such employment until his death. Being the oldest son of James Pierpont … he would have been the recipient of the titles and estates of the English family had the claim thereto asserted by his ancestors been recognized or successfully contested."
