This article presents evidence that James William Hook, in his 1954-55 TAG articles, had been mistaken in placing George as the father of Evan. Instead, a closer examination of the evidence shows that Evan was most likely the father of George. In particular, the author concludes, on examination of the full court record regarding the 1684 estate of Evan Owen, that "it appears the court's clerk made an error in initially ascribing the estate to George."
