In Brookfield, N. Y., November 28, 1861, Mrs. Eunice Saunders, aged 70 years. In July last, Sister Saunders was prostrated with a paralytic stroke, from which she never recovered. Still her speech and memory were but little affected, which was a great comfort to her family and friends. Her death was sudden and unexpected, though her disease was such that the silver cord might be loosed at any time. Her native place was Hopkinton, R. I., but she removed to Central New York, in 1811, where she experienced religion, at 14 years of age, and was baptized by Eld. Abram Coon. She was one of those who composed the 2d Brookfield Church at its organization in 1823, of which she remained a member till her death. Our deceased sister was a living, exemplary Christian. The Sabbath worship, the covenant meeting, the communion, and prayer-meeting, were to her places of delight, from which she never absented herself upon any trivial pretense. Truly a pillar in Zion has been taken away; but, we hope and believe, to be placed in the “mansion prepared.” While we sorrow, she rejoices. While we mourn, she sings. Though our tears flow, hers are forever wiped away. “The memory of the just is blessed.”
