Eugene H. Geisler

Eugene H. "Gene" Geisler, 74, of 1945 Chaney Road, died at 10 pm Saturday, May 4, 1991, at Mercy Health Center, St. Joseph's Unit.

Services will be at 11:30 pm Tuesday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm today at Gene Siegert & Son Westview Funeral Home, 2659 Kennedy Road, where the Knights of Columbus Council 510 will say the rosary at 6:30 pm, the scripture wake service will be said at 7 pm and the Dubourg Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus honor guard will attend from 7 to 8:30 pm.

Mr. Geisler was a partner and former vice president and secretary of Geisler Brothers Roofing & Sheet Metal Co. of Dubuque until his retirement in 1984. He was a co-founder of Plaza Twenty Inc., where he was vice president and secretary and served on the board of directors for many years.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1916, in Dubuque, son of Joseph J. and Claire M. (Hillard) Geisler. He married Kathryn Ann White on Sept. 27, 1941; she died July 1, 1972. He married Bernadine (Hingtgen) Ament on Sept. 7, 1973; she survives.

He attended Loras College. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was a charter member of Thunder Hills Golf and Country Club, Peosta, Iowa, and was a member of the American Legion Post 6 of Dubuque, Knights of Columbus Dubuque Council 510, Dubourg Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Loras Alumni Association, Dubuque Local Sheet Metal & Roofers Master Association and St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lawrence (Kathy) Baird of New Berlin, Wis., and Jan Geisler of Greenfield, Wis.; a son, Peter J. (and Wendy) of Cedar Hills, Texas; three step-daughters, Mrs. Tom (Karlyn) Van Gelder of East Dubuque, Ill., Mrs. Charles (Janice) Barnes of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Lori Ament of Corpus Christi, Texas; two step-sons, Michael J. (and Mary Pat) Ament of Dubuque, and Robert J. Ament of Bozeman, Mont.; 17 grandchildren; three sisters, Lorraine Slade of Pueblo, Colo., Lois Petrick of Dubuque and Phyllis Geisler of Tucson, and a brother, Howard A. of Dubuque.

Memorials may be given to Clarke College and Loras College.
