    ERVIN C. JOHNSON, of 2235 C St. NW died at a local hospital Wednesday following a brief illness.
    Born in Michigan, he was married to the former Maxine Smith on April 8, 1977, at Cedar Rapids. He had been employed as a purchasing agent for a cruise ship prior to his retirement.
    Surviving in addition to his wife are one son, Hank of Mocassin, Calif.; three stepdaughters, Shirley Thompson, Marcia Conrad and Nancie Smith, all of Cedar Rapids; two stepsons, Jerry Smith of Cedar Rapids and Richard Smith of Des Moines; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
    Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Turner Chapel West by the Rev. Edward J. Roling of St. Ludmila's Catholic Church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday until 10:45 a.m. Saturday. The casket will not be opened following services.
