ERNESTINE "SALLY" STANBERY OGDEN 1922 - 2004 GROVE, Okla. - Ernestine "Sally" Stanbery Ogden, 82, died Monday, June 28, 2004 at Integris Grove General Hospital. Sally was born on May 3, 1922 in Picher, Okla. to George Ernest and Iva. E. (Benintendi) Stanbery. She graduated in 1940 from Grove High School as Valedictorian. Sally was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Air Force, stationed at the 2nd Air Force Headquarters. She wrote a training manual, Tactics and Techniques of Incendiary Bombing, used to train bomber crews of the 2nd Air Force. Sally received her Bachelors Degree from Stanford University in California and her Masters Degree from Adams State University in Colorado. Sally was a professor for 30 years at Adams State University and the University of Southern Colorado. Sally was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star, the Friday Book Club, The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, First Baptist Church in Grove, and the American Association of University Professors. She tutored many people and taught adults to read. She and her husband moved to Grove in 1972. She volunteered many years for the T.C.E. at the Legion Hut helping the elderly file income taxes. Survivors include her husband, William C. Ogden of Grove; two children, Tim Ogden and Doug Ogden; one brother, Billy Allen Stanbery and his wife Johna Lee; one sister Maxine Toliver; one sister-in-law Leona Stanbery; many nieces, nephews, and more loving friends than she could count. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son Billy Ogden, one brother Lavon Standbry, and one brother-in-law Hank Toliver. Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, 2004 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove with Rev. Ollie Odle officiating. Burial will follow at Olympus Cemetery with military rites by the Grove Veterans Ritual Team. Visitation will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
