  7. There are several discrepancies concerning Erastus appearing to be the result of misreading sloppy writing?? As mentioned above, the death record gives an age that is two years off, which appears to be reading a 9 as a 7. In NEHGR, Vol. 112, p. 155, presenting a family Bible record, Erastus is said to be b. 21 Jul 1829 (i.e., 5 days after Lucy according to the same source) and he died 1869 when all the records say 1864. Misreading a 4 as a 9 is not uncommon, but there are not many signs that any great care (like confirming the information with external sources) was taken in presenting this sloppy data.
