    Dennis H. Hartsook, farmer and stock-raiser, P. O., Marshall. The oldest son of a family of nine. Is a native of Frederick county, Maryland, born January 18, 1831. His parents were natives of same state. Dennis attended the common schools up to the age of nine, when he, with his father, went to Indiana. Finding no educational facilities, he returned to Maryland for the purpose of completing his education. In 1855, he moved with his father’s family to Illinois. ... His father, Ephraim, died in 1857, while crossing the plains to California. His mother died in 1873, and is buried at Rock Island.
