Emory Z. Klingensmith appears first in the 1900 US Federal Census (in Westmoreland, PA). I can find no evidence of him earlier.

Except in the 1880 Census. In that Census Lovina Klingensmith (in Westmoreland, PA) is living with her 9 year old grandson Zachariah E. Klingensmith. I am convinced this is the later Emory Z. (Zachariah Emory decided, as he grew up, that he wanted to be Emory Zachariah)

In the record of 1900 US Federal Census Lavina is living adjacent to Emery and Eva Klingensmith.
