From Evening Star obit

Her transport to New York was enabled by Clara Louise Kellogg (Wikpedia) who secured her the position of principal soprano in Dr. Chapin's Church at the corner of 45th Street and Fifth Avenue.(from "Evening Star" citation) Therefrom she collected monies from parishioners to travel to Europe to continue musical education. Her future husband, Eugene Wetherell, was a member of Dr. Chapin's congregation; the two lived in the same boarding house on 14th Street and their relationship eventually led to marriage.

Abbott traveled to Paris and studied music under Marchesi (likely Blanche Marchesi) and acting under Charles Fecther.

Her husband died in Denver "two years ago".
