Subject: Relatives
Hi, Yvonne
Great to get to the office on a Monday morning and discover that I actually have relatives in Australia.
I am Ian Ellis (1950) and I am the great grand son of Richard Ellis that came to Malta in 1861.
I have one sister, Elizabeth (1947) who married Giovanni Scilio and lives in Sicily.
We are the children of John Ellis Jnr. (1916 ), the fourth child of John Ellis Snr.
My father had a brother Richard (1911 to 1993) and two sisters, Mary married Mifsud Speranza (1908 to 1992) and Josephine (1910 to 1996). None of which had any children.
John Ellis Snr., my grand father and the son of Richard, married Maria nee Camilleri and should appear in the photographs in your possession
Richard Ellis, my great grand father, married Alphonsa nee Curmi, and apart from John Ellis Snr., they had two sisters Emelia married Micallef and Mary married Toledo
I attached a copy of a photograph taken at the Ellis studio showing 3 Ellis generations (dated 1916) with Richard (with hat) , his son John snr. and my uncle Richard.
I would be very interested to see the photographs you have and happy to answer any questions you may have about this side of the Ellis family.
I know that relatives exist in the UK (surname Hardy) and that a branch existed in Port Elizabeth, but I have lost touch with the South Africans.
Best Regards
Ian
