    Mrs. Elvira J. Maize was born in Schuyler county on April 2, 1859, and departed this life on January 28th, 1932, at the home of her son, R. L. Maize, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She had made her home with them for the past nine months. She was married on August 13, 1877, to J. W. Maize, Rev. Posy Veach officiating. She was the mother of eight children, five of whom are living. A daughter, Mrs. E. M. Howlett, died on June 30, 1924; Charley died in March, 1907, and Hettie Jane died in May, 1902. The living are: Mrs. Nora Fugate, Hastings, Nebr., Mrs. Charles Burgess, Maywood, Ill., kJ. Orval, Des Moines, Iowa, Mrs. Ray Kelsey, Des Moines, Iowa, and R. L. Maize of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Sunday aftgernoon at the Baptist church by Rev. A. B. Baker. Interment was in the Concord cemetery beside her daughter, Hettie, as was her request.
