- ↑ About the Author
Elsie M. Blackwood was born in Michigan and started her schooling in a little country schoolhouse; then she moved to Muskegan [sic] for further schooling and finally to New York where she studied creative writing at New York University. For many years her home was in Teaneck, New Jersey, and her two boys finished high school there before going on to college for degrees in graduate work. "Perhaps," she tells us, "the fact that my great grandparents were pioneers and went West in a covered wagon to settle in the then great pine forests of Michigan, accounts to some extent for my great love of nature and my insatiable desire to be out of doors." Her interests have been many and varied. In golfing she would arise at 5 o'clock in the morning to practice putting with her husband. She learned to hunt while still a girl and her preference is wild-turkey hunting in Mississippi. She tells us many happy hours have been spent in finding and classifying mushrooms; and of late she has become interested in rock collecting. She has been in every state except Hawaii. She currently lives in New Milford, New Jersey.
