BRIDGEWATER - Elnora Ruby Fadden, 74, died Thursday at her home after a brief illness.

She was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Sherburne, daughter of Fred M. and Maybell L. (Comstock) Wardwell. She attended grade school in West Bridgewater and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1942. She then attended Rutland Business College. In 1947 she married Fredrick J. Edgerton and moved to Chestertown, N.Y. He died in 1950. She later married David F. Fadden on July 30, 1960, and lived in West Bridgewater. They moved to Bridgewater in 1968. After graduation, she worked in an attorney's office in Fair Haven. She later worked for the Vermont Department of Health in Rutland, for the Vermont State Highway Department in Woodstock and for the District 4 office in White River Junction from where she retired in 1989 after 37 years of service. Mrs. Fadden was a longtime member of the Vermont State Employees Association. She served the local community on the school board, as a Justice of the Peace, and a volunteer at the Bridgewater Public Library and for the Visiting Nurses Association. She was active in the Episcopal Church, serving on the altar guild and the executive committee at the Church of Our Savior in Shelburne. She enjoyed swimming, gardening, walking, and playing canasta with the Wednesday Night Club. Survivors include her husband of Bridgewater; a son, William W. Edgerton of Oakland, Calif.; a daughter, Susan O'Brien of Kittredge, Colo.; three sisters, Elva Davis of Ludlow, Frederica Welch of Killington and Joyce Phillips of Bridgewater; a brother, Ivon Wardwell of New London, Conn.; a grandson; an uncle; and several cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by a brother, Myron. The funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Church of Our Savior in Killington by the Rev. Dianne Root, pastor. Burial will be in West Bridgewater Cemetery (sic). Friends may call Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Cabot Funeral Home. Contributions may be made to the Church of Our Savior, P.O.
