[edit] Ellen Unknown: Biographical InformationEllen (or Ella) was the wife of Caesar Bowens, who was formerly enslaved at Drayton Hall Plantation on the Ashley River, St. Andrews Parish, Charleston, South Carolina. After Emancipation, Caesar, Ellen and their family stayed on at Drayton Hall. Together they raised a large family of at least 13 children. Their son Richmond and his son Richmond, Jr. also lived and worked at Drayton Hall. We know little of Ellen's life before she married Caesar. If you have information and/or documents to share, please contact us! We will gratefully acknowledge your contribution. [edit] Family Group Sheet
