MISS ELEANOR MORRIS MARTIN 28 May 1939 Athens Messenger Dies in Lodi Hospital- Miss Eleanor Martin age 65, of Leroy, former resident of The Plains, died Saturday afternoon in a hospital at Lodi, where she had undergone an appendicta operation last Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at The Plains Methodist Church, Monday afternoon at one o’clock. Miss Martin was a daughter was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Martin, who lived near Grosvenor Crossing. She moved from The Plains about 35 years ago. A brother, Dr. W. H. Martin, of Detroit, visited his sister at the hospital on Friday, when her condition apparently was not serious and came to Athens Friday night. He was accompanied here by his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Martin, and their son Bille. They are visiting at the home of Mrs. Mary E. Walden in Athens. Miss Martin leaves two other brothers, Fred of Lodi and Henry of West Salem and two sisters, Mrs. Catherine Bull, Circleville, and Mrs. Rie Enaminger, Cleveland. 31 May 1939 Athens Messenger Martin Rites Held Monday in Church at The Plains Services for Former Resident of Dover is Largely Attended. Chauncey- Miss Eleanor Morris Martin, age 65, daughter of the late Henry and Isadore Harper Martin of The Plains and Chauncey, died in the hospital at Lodi, Ohio, following an operation for a ruptured appendix. The body was brought to The Plains M.E. Church Monday where funeral services were conducted at one o’clock with Rev. Gilbert Courtney and singer of Chauncey Church of Christ officiating. Burial was in The Plains Cemetery. Pallbearers were: George, Fred, Clifford, John, Roy and Clyde Gabriel. Friends had sent many floral offerings. Survivors are two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. Rie Ensminger, Lakewood, Ohio; Mrs. Kathryn Bull, Circleville; Dr. William Martin, Detroit; Fred Martin, Lodi; and Henry Martin, West Salem, Ohio. Miss Martin was born at The Plains and her early life was spent there and in Chauncey. She was a graduate of the Athens High School and years ago taught in the Beaumont School. She was a granddaughter of the late Rev. Robert Harper, and a cousin of Mrs. Isabelle Coe of near Chauncey. She left this vicinity 35 years ago and at the time of her death was living in Leroy, Ohio with a nephew Gordon Ensminger.
