"Elizur (Goodrich), b. 30 Mar. 1693; d. at Wethersfield, 4 Apr. 1774 in 81st yr. (g. s.); … He was chosen Ensign of the 2d company, Wethersfield, May 1731; Lieutenant, May 1735, and Captain, July 1740. He served as Captain in the Louisburg Expedition, appointed Feb. 1744/5; and became Colonel of the 2d Regiment, Mar. 1755. He was Deputy for Wethersfield, May 1744, Oct. 1746, Jan., May and Oct. 1747, May 1748, Oct. 1749, May, Oct. and Nov. 1750, Oct. 1753, May 1754, May and Sept. 1756, May and Oct. 1758, Feb. and Mar. 1759, May 1760, and May 1761. He was Justice of the Peace, 1747 to 1763 inclusive. His will, dated 7 Mar. 1770, named wife Anne; cousins Josiah, Elijah Hubbard, Simeon, Allen, Jesse, Asa and Sarah, children of Josiah Goodrich the son of 'my Brother' David; remainder to cousin Josiah Goodrich, 'the Grandson of my sister Elizabeth,' he to be executor."
