Elizabeth Wright’s origins have yet to be established. The age given when she died suggests she was born around 1763, and the 1841 census indicates that she was born in Northamptonshire.

Elizabeth’s first confirmed sighting is on 27th July 1794, when she married John Berridge at Benefield in Northamptonshire. He was a widower, with three surviving daughters from his first marriage.

Elizabeth and John went on to have another seven children baptised at Benefield between 1795 and 1809, although the youngest died when he was only three years old.

The 1841 census finds Elizabeth and John living at Upper Benefield, along with a servant and their daughter Lydia and her husband. John was described as a grazier.

Elizabeth died in 1847, when she was said to be 83 years old. She was buried at Benefield on 9th May 1847. John survived her by nearly six years.
