Facts and Events
_MAR: Risner {geni:occupation} housewife, midwife {geni:about_me} I was told Elizabeth "Betty" Whitaker Risner had a full head of gorgeous bright red hair, and a fiery temper to match! This must be where my great grandfather, Lark Risner (her son), got his bright red hair. His nickname was "Red Lark" to distinguish him from several other Larkin Risners in the area. There are a few records to show that Betty lived to a ripe old age of 101 years, and that she was a midwife until the year she died! Our cousin, Bob Whittaker, has his own birth certificate to prove that - Great Great Grandma Betty delivered him into this world! How cool is that? She must've been one strong, and very grand lady. She was born in April 1832 in Floyd Co., now Magoffin Co., Ky; she died in 1933, we think in Magoffin Co. She used to stay with whomever kids or grandkids needed her most, sometimes for a year or more, before she would move on to the next one. It is told that the grandkids loved her dearly and would throw a fit when it was time for her to go. She outlived Meridith by about 24 years and I'm sure these children were great comforts to her.
