Ginni: My research agrees with yours entirely. I think you are absolutely right about the wives of the two Thomas Halseys being confused. Elizabeth "Phebe" Wheeler Halsey was Thomas Sr.'s first wife who was murdered by Indians. He then married the widow Johnes. "Phebe" Halsey was the only early Southampton settler to have been killed by Indians, and it is believed that they were raiders from CT, not local Shinnecocks. I am descended from Mary Barrett Halsey and Thomas Halsey Jr.'s daughter, Mary Halsey (Howell) Sharon M.
