The conclusion of most sources [e.g., S1, S3, S4, S5, S6] is that Elizabeth's maiden name is unknown. From [S3], she is guessed to have possibly been Elizabeth Perry or Elizabeth Simpson. [S7] identifies her as Elizabeth French, but with no attribution. The French Family Association ([S5] and [S6]) suggests an alternate, but disputed[11], marriage for Elizabeth French, also without attribution.

After the death of Henry Loker, his widow Elizabeth emigrated to Massachusetts with her children, probably accompanying the family of John Parmenter, whose wife may have been Elizabeth's sister.

Henry Loker m. abt 1610 Elizabeth ---. "Her maiden name has not been learned." A guess is that she is the sister of Bridget, wife of John Parmenter of Bures St. Mary since they came from the same town in England, settled in the same town in New England], and John witnessed Henry's will [not explicitly mentioned: emigrated at the same time, and Henry and Elizabeth named a daughter Bridget]. (If this guess is right, and assuming she was born in Bures St. Mary, there are still two families with daughters named both Elizabeth and Bridget, of approximately the right age: the family of William Perry and the family of John Simpson.) Henry's widow and four children went to New England in 1639 and settled in Sudbury.

Note: This is not the Elizabeth who m. Henry Loker, bp. 1576/7 in Bures St. Mary. Researcher John Threlfall says that there were 2 distinct Riddlesdales families and that the French family is not descended from the Loker branch. There is no evidence that Elizabeth, wife of Henry Loker, was nee French [15]. Elizabeth d. Mar 1648 in Sudbury, Middlesex Co., MA [26].

According to Douglas Richardson’s article in the NEHGR, December 1989, Henry Riddlesdale, alias Loker, married Elizabeth ---. There is no evidence that Elizabeth, wife of Henry Loker, was born a French.
[Note: it is cited on this website that this article proves Elizabeth was not Elizabeth French. This is not strictly accurate. The article says Elizabeth's surname is unknown. It provides "a guess" of two candidates, neither one Elizabeth French. But it presents no commentary or evidence addressing or ruling out Elizabeth French.]

  9. The estimated birth date of about 1580 is based on the age of her husband and the time of her marriage. Elizabeth's identity is unknown, and there is no recorded age at death, etc., so her birth/baptism date is unknown, though it is variously estimated from 1577 to 1586. Different guesses as to Elizabeth's identity may provide associated birth/baptism dates (see particularly the Douglas Richardson articleS3, but being guesses, there is no evidence they apply. Likewise her birth location is assumed to be close to Bures St. Mary, but nothing specific is known.
  10. 10.0 10.1 10.2 Elizabeth's identity is unknown. These alternate names represent various speculative guesses but there is no conclusive proof for, or against, any of them.
  11. No details about the dispute are given on the website, but it seems to relate to information found at Source:NEHGR 142:252 and 143:363. If that is so, the William Siday referred to is at least one generation older than Elizabeth French (his first marriage was in 1574 before Elizabeth was even born). If William had a son of the same name that could potentially resolve the dispute, whereas if he didn't, it would would make her marriage to him somewhat unlikely for the same reason that Alice Warren is ruled out on p. 143:363: Elizabeth French was first wife Elizabeth Warren's niece.
