- ↑ In the 1851 census Elizabeth gave her birthplace as Beeding. The parish of Beeding at the time of Elizabeth's birth was in two separate parts - the area around the the village of Beeding (also known as Upper Beeding) and a detached area some ten miles to the north known as Lower Beeding. As Lower Beeding adjoins Slaugham where Elizabeth married, it is considered rather more likely that she was born in the Lower Beeding part of Beeding parish rather than the Upper Beeding part.
