The following information was presented by William Stephen Webb, Jr & Judith (Webb) Greenan

Elizabeth (Stephen) Atkinson was the 4th child of 10 children born to the parents of Andrew Stephen and ?Elizabeth Baskin(s). Her parents were married about 1762. Her father, Andrew b abt 1723 place unknown - d 1798 in Greene County, Pennsylvania is known as Andrew Stephen, ferryman. He established a ferry on the Juniata River, Pennsylvania, near a big bend in the river. Andrew and his wife's brother, George Baskin(s), migrated to Greene County, Pennsylvania in 1789. Andrew died in 1798 although his burial spot is not known. Elizabeth's grandfather, Alexander Stephen, migrated to the Paxton region of Pennsylvania in the 1730s. Apparently there were two migrations of Stephen families, one being in the early 1730s and the others in the mid 1740s. It appears that these families are related.

Her mother, ?Elizabeth Baskin(s), was the daughter of Francis Baskin(s) (one of 4 brothers that settled in Pennsylvania). Her grandfather was possibly John Baskin(s). The Atkinson and Stephen descendants migrated to the Belmont County (now Monroe County), Ohio region in the late 1790s while the Baskin(s) family remained in Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth Stephen and Charles Atkinson were married 4 Dec 1787 in Pennsylvania. They were the parents of 11 children. Charles was a volunteer in the Pennsylvania militia during the American Revolution receiving a pension for his service. He remained in the militia after victory was declared, protecting the frontier against Indian hostilities. Elizabeth followed her husband during the time he was in the militia. Their twins, Stephen and Margaret, were born 17 Jun 1793 at Fort Jackson, near Waynesburg, Greene County, Pennsylvania. Charles, Elizabeth & family migrated to Belmont County (now Monroe County), Ohio in the late 1790s after a short time at Fort Henry, Wheeling, Virginia.
