Elizabeth Savage was baptised on 2nd February 1817 at Winchester in Hampshire, daughter of Ann Savage, formerly Stevens, and her husband Robert Savage, a pattern maker and last maker. The family lived on Water Lane on the eastern side of the city. The family was not always financially stable; in 1822 Elizabeth's father was described as an insolvent debtor. However, in 1827 he was appointed as one of the Sergeants-at-Mace of the city. As part of this role he also became keeper of the City Bridewell.

Sadly, Elizabeth died when she was about seventeen years old, on 8th January 1834. She was buried at St Maurice's Church in Winchester four days later. Her parents both survived her.
