    The Find A Grave memorial claims her parents were William Jackson Proffitt and Mary Jane Glaze, but no evidence is provided.

  6. ↑ The only child in the 1860 census is William (age 1).
  7.   Assuming the Elizabeth Proffitt who married William Baxter was the daughter of William Jackson Proffitt and Mary Jane Glaze, her birth year got progressively earlier as she got older (see census records). This wasn't uncommon. However, it should also be noted that in the 1900 census, she claimed her mother was born in North Carolina, which doesn't match the available census records for Mary Jane Glaze. This could just be an error.
