- ↑ Several sources claim a birth of 27 Nov 1678 (or mangled variants, see later), but this appears to be confusion with a different Person:Elizabeth Prescott (8). For example, Source:Cutter, William Richard. Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of the State of Massachusetts, Vol. 4, p. 2519. Also, Source:Prescott, William. Prescott Memorial, or, A Genealogical Memoir of the Prescott Families in America, p. 46, which further confuses things by misinterpreting the old style month. ([Note: In old-styles dates, the ninth month is November. More info may be found here.]). The Lancaster birth record explicitly names the mother as Sarah, and the Concord record names the father Jn'o, meaning John, not Jonathan, which would be Jon'a. However, no further record of the Elizabeth in that family has been located, but still the birth record appears to belong to them, not to this Elizabeth.
No gravestone or age at death has been found that might help estimate the birth. The father's will does not appear to name the daughters in birth order (Mary is named before Dorothy even though we know she was born after Dorothy.) The birth estimate is based on the assumption that this Elizabeth is a child of his second wife Elizabeth, and based on her own marriage date must have been born certainly before 1680. Her parents married in late 1675 and a brother born in early 1677 so 1678 or 1679 seems likely. If she is, alternately, a child of the first wife, there is a greater range of dates possible.
