  2. Source:Noyes, Henry Erastus. Genealogical Record of Some of the Noyes Descendants of James, Nicholas and Peter Noyes, Vol. II, p. 181, says Elizabeth, d/o Joseph Noyes and Hannah Wadleigh, m. (1) 1738 John Hopkinson, m. (2) 1757 Stephen Ilsley. We know the first marriage is correct, because she is named as Elizabeth Hopkinton in her grandfather's, Jonathan Wadleigh's, will of 7 Jan 1747/48, and we know the second marriage is incorrect because Stephen Ilsley marries "Elizabeth Noyes" (i.e., not Elizabeth Hopkinson) according to the 1757 marriage record in Newbury, Vol. 2, p. 249. In fact, Noyes in Vol. 1, p. 206, identifies the wife of Stephen Ilsley as the daughter of John Noyes and Sarah Johnson. Can't have it both ways!
