Elizabeth (Markley) Chittenden's Estate

"The will of Elizabeth Chittenden of Hawkhurst, widow, dated 24 February 1635[/6?], proved 27 April 1636 [Archdeacon's Court of Canterbury, 69:15; Probate Registry of Canterbury, 16:212. … the will of Thomas Chittenden, brother of William(A) Chittenden, dated 22 April 1643, mentioned "my cousin William Chittenden which is in New England," thus clinching the identification of William(1) Chittenden], named her sons (all under 21) John, Edward, Thomas and Nathaniel Chittenden (Nathaniel to be "put forth apprentice"), and son William Chittenden and his wife Johan and daughter Johan. Son Edward was to be executor, and son William, brother-in-law Thomas Chittenden, and William Hosmer were "to help my executor in the discharge of this my Last will and testament." The will was proved by William Chittenden during the minority of Edward Chittenden who was the executor named in Elizabeth's will."[1]
