Source:Descendants of Andrew Brown, Sr., citing Source:Massachusetts and Maine families : in the ancestry of Walter Goodwin Davis (1885-1966) : a reprinting, in alphabetical order by surname, of the sixteen multi-ancestor, says Elizabeth m. (int.) 2 Sep 1738 Edward Chapman. This is probably a different Elizabeth Libby than the one who married John Smith Jr. of Berwick as Source:Vital records of Berwick, South Berwick, and North Berwick, Maine : to the year 1892, lists births of children for Elizabeth and John Smith Jr. [p. 213] starting with "Mary, born March 30, 1736" and continuing through "Joshua, born June 8, 1759".

The same website Descendants of Andrew Brown, citing the same source, gives an abstract of Elizabeth's father's will (Matthew Libby), but it is dated before either of the marriages in question, and so refers to her as "Elizabeth Libbey". It is possible that there are other probate documents, which are not mentioned by this source, that could possibly offer clues, as probate occurred in 1740, which is after the dates of both prospective marriages.

The Davis source, as quoted, suggests Elizabeth was estranged from her father. From the abstract of the will, it is clear she received less than her siblings, but whether this is due to estrangement or because she had received her portion earlier, we cannot tell. However, as the will predates her marriage (which is the most likely time to give her an early bequest) estrangement seems likely.
