Elizabeth was already separated from her husband, John Rudolph, by 1810, when she was living in the Cedar Creek area of Frederick County, Virginia, and is listed as head of the household. She sued for support from John in 1812, claiming that she was compelled to leave him because of his inhumane treatment of her. Elizabeth moved back to the Stony Creek area of Shenandoah County, where she had, in fact, obtained a patent for 50 acres of land near her relatives in 1799, and is listed as head of household in the 1820 and 1830 censuses. "Elizabeth Rudolph, widow and relict of John Rudolph, deceased, alias Elizabeth Lantz," deeded her land to her unmarried daughter, Catherine, September 1832; "in exchange for decent and reasonable support during her natural life, on the premises hereby conveyed." This is the last known record of her.
