    Elizabeth Keller was born in 1748 in Toms Brook, Stover, Shenandoah, VA, USA. She was the daughter of Hans George Keller (1711-1782) and Barbara Ann Hottel Keller (1712-1785). Her dad had come to America from Germany, and her maternal grandfather was Johannes John Hottel. Johannes was born in Switzerland. His wife was born in Germany. Johannes came to Pennsylvania in 1732 and brought Elizabeth's mother and other family members to America with him. This family settled in Tom's Brook, Shenandoah County, VA. There are books written about this family as there are books about Rev. Hans Herr. The book titles for the Hottel and Keller family are "History of the Descendants of John Hottell"; "A History of Shenandoah County, Virginia" and "Namen von Einwanderern in Pennsylvanien aus Deutschland, der Schweiz, Holland, Frankreich u. a. St. von 1727 bis 1776" trnslated: "Names of immigrants in Pennsylvania from Germany, Switzerland, Holland, France and other countries from 1727 to 1776".

    Elizabeth married John Jacob Bowman (1744-1831) on Nov. 25, 1767 at Frederick Co., Shenandoah, Virginia, USA. John was the son of Jacob Johannes Bowman (1722-1778) and Elizabeth Rueger Bowman (1720-1781). John Jacob was the great grandson of Rev. Hans H. Herr who was one of the pioneer settlers of Lancaster, PA from Switzerland.

    John Jacob and Elizabeth (Keller) Bowman had the following 10 known children: Rebecca Bowman, Nancy P Bowman, Jacob Bowman, Henry Bowman, John Bowman, Elizabeth Bowman, Barbara Ann Bowman, Samuel Bowman, Joseph Bowman and Abraham Bowman.

    Elizabeth died in Shenandoah County, VA. After her death, many in this family moved to Green County, TN., including some of their children and her husband, John Jacob Keller. Elizabeth's brother, John Carl Keller married John's sister, Mary. John Keller also moved to and died in Green County, TN. This family lived in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Shenandoah County, Virginia and Green County, Tennessee. Many of their descendants moved to West Virginia.
