"Elizabeth Jane Humphrey Howarth, 88, of Washington Street, died on the morning of Oct 9, 1949 in the Nathan Littauer hospital. She was found unconscious in her home by Charles Scott when he came to read the gas and electric meters.

She was born in Charleston, Sept 4, 1861; the daughter of James W. and Clarissa Humphrey. She came to Gloversville in the early part of her life. She was the wife of George A. Howarth. She was a member of the Fremont Methodist Church and a member of the Home Department of the church.

Elizabeth was survived by several cousins. Burial was in the family plot in Prospect Hill Cemetery." (S1)
