Elizabeth Wife of Nathaniel Cheney Deceased at Orange Nov'r 26th 1789 Aged 32 years.

  2. The Cheney Genealogy only identifies Elizabeth as Elizabeth Hudson of Holliston, i.e., just what is known from the marriage record. There seems to be little evidence of a Hudson family in Holliston. There are a handful of Elizabeth Hudsons from other towns of approximately the correct age.

One would expect the one in Oxford, whose father d. 1765 when she was 8, is maybe the most likely candidate, but a Hudson Genealogy gives no details beyond her birth. Her father's will mentions his under age daughter Elizabeth, giving her money (so little likelihood of a helpful deed), and there appears to be no receipt or other later document in the file that could offer any clue to what became of her. No marriage is found in Oxford VRs for an Elizabeth Hudson. Being orphaned may explain why she could be the Elizabeth of Holliston, if sent to live with a relation, but nothing has been found either tying her to Nathaniel, or ruling her out.
