- ↑ Source:Cutter, William Richard. New England Families, Genealogical and Memorial, Vol. 1, p. 382, reports that Thomas Hayward m. Elizabeth in 1773 and she died 24 Mar 1774. This is an obvious error as the Templeton record says 24 Mar 1772, and is supported by a gravestone. Thus, this is the death of the previous wife. Elizabeth appears to have survived her husband, as there is a reference to widow Elizabeth Hayward in the probate file. However, the date posted here, 23 Jun 1810 in Upton, MA, is not found in the Upton VRs, and the citation "!Death 974.4 V28a Vol 3 "H-M" p 2164 Am. Antig." is too cryptic, yielding no results upon various searching. A death of an Elizabeth Howard is found in Boston, in various forms, one being 23 Jun 1810, assuming the nonspecified day of month means to use the last posted date but clearly June 1810. However, this Elizabeth Howard was 53 which is clearly a different person. So the net effect is merely to suspect the date asserted here is confusion with that person.
