↑ We don't know Elizabeth's name at the time of marriage. It is possible she was the widow of Lewis Whiting (here). She was named Elizabeth Hale in her father's 1817 will, and an Elizabeth Hale m. Lewis Whiting in 1818. Lewis Whiting died in 1833 or 1834, which would have made her a widow about the same time Israel Hale (whose first wife was Elizabeth's sister Jemima) was widowed if this is correct.
